An exceptional opportunity has become available for an experienced Sole Engineer to join a privately operated 34m expedition yacht undertaking an exciting long-term cruising program throughout some of the world’s most remote and spectacular destinations.

This role is ideally suited to a practical, self-sufficient engineer who enjoys life off the beaten track and thrives in locations where resourcefulness, forward planning, and strong technical ability are essential. Operating throughout the South Pacific and Southeast Asia, the vessel frequently visits remote regions where external support and spare parts can be limited, making reliability and problem-solving skills critical.

You will be joining a professional, close-knit crew with a genuine passion for adventure, exploration, and life on the water. The program offers extensive sea time, diverse cruising grounds, and opportunities to enjoy activities such as diving, surfing, fishing, kiteboarding, and other watersports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and reliability of all engineering systems onboard.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and technical issues independently.
  • Manage preventative maintenance schedules and spare parts inventory.
  • Assist with planning and execution of yard periods and refit projects.
  • Support deck operations during guest trips and vessel activities.
  • Participate in navigational watchkeeping duties when required.
  • Ensure the vessel remains fully operational during extended periods in remote cruising areas.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ professional yachting experience.
  • Previous Sole Engineer experience preferred.
  • AEC 1 & 2 (or equivalent certification) minimum.
  • Valid STCW certification.
  • Valid ENG1 Medical.
  • Valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity.
  • Watchkeeping experience advantageous.
  • 200GT License beneficial but not essential.
  • Trade qualification highly regarded.
  • B1/B2 Visa advantageous.
